Wood or Faux?
We manufacture window shutters made of real wood. Through all the promotion of wood substitutes, we've remained committed to the natural beauty of real wood. Wood shutters offer many insulation values such as energy efficiency, maintain interior temperature from exterior temperature extremes, and from noise. As opposed to aluminum, plastic and other composites, wood is the only shutter material that is manufactured from a 100% renewable source. Non-wood shutters are limited in their custom capabilities, are available only in standard colors, cannot be stained, and have a look and feel of plastic. They are also limited in width and height of panels. We generally only recommend faux shutters in windows that come into direct contact with water.
